Faces

I create expressive portraits using bold, unconventional skin tones to reimagine traditional portraiture. My work invites viewers to look beyond the surface, questioning beauty standards and racial assumptions. Acrylics allow me to layer color and texture quickly, adding depth and emotion. Drawing on my anatomy background, I emphasize facial structure to blend physical detail with feeling, inspiring reflection, connection, and self-awareness.

My botanical paintings are rooted in sustainability, transforming discarded, mass-produced artwork into original pieces. Using layered acrylics—often from leftover paint—I build textured surfaces and carve back into them to reveal color beneath. This process allows me to reduce waste while creating accessible, one-of-a-kind works. In contrast to my expressive portraiture, these botanicals offer a more intuitive, meditative approach—inviting both experimentation in my practice and a sense of calm for the viewer.
